Disinfection is a key step in any effective hygiene regime, however, it must be preceeded by effective cleaning. Careful choice of the product and active ingredient are required to achieve efficacy whilst ensuring no undesired side effects such as taint or corrosion are obtained.
our products
Surfactant based compounds
Surfactant based compounds such as Quaternary ammonium compound based disinfectants are often the product of choice for open plant cleaning.
They are operator-friendly and when formulated correctly highly active against spoilage and pathogenic bacteria even at low temperatures. Products such as Triquart Super have excellent performance in “High Care” applications and are recognised by several retail multiples.
Halogens
Disinfectants based on chlorine, iodine and bromine have a long history of use being highly active and, broad spectrum.
In specialist applications they are the product of choice and with correct application and guidance can be used safely and effectively.
Peroxygen Compounds
Peroxyacids especially peracetic acid have been widely used for many years especially in CIP applications.
Peracids have excellent efficacy and due to their oxidising nature have very broad spectrum activity. A new class of peracids are now available, the Oxysan Range, giving higher efficacy with lower odour and hazard.
Products Requiring Special Approval
Some applications require disinfectants to have formal approvals by, for example, legislative authorities eg. DEFA.
Ecolab can provide a range of products meeting these approvals link. If you have an application which requires approval please consult Ecolab and we will advise on the appropriate product for your needs.
